One of the most popular activities I recommend to families with children staying at Serenity is a trip on pedal boats at Porat Beach. The beach is just a short walk away – only 120 meters – so even the little ones can make it there easily.
Porat is a calm, well-kept pebble beach in a bay of the same name, with a gentle slope into the sea – perfect for kids. In addition to classic sunbathing and swimming, there’s a little adventure waiting: renting a pedal boat.
How It Works
Right on the beach, there’s a small rental stand where you can choose from several types of boats – some even have a slide, which is a huge hit with the kids. The staff is friendly and helpful, and they’re happy to assist first-timers.
I often see families rent a boat for an hour – for smaller kids, 30–45 minutes is usually enough, but some get so excited that they return the next day. It’s safe, the beach is well protected, the sea is calm, and there are no strong currents in the area.
Tips I Give Our Guests
- Go early in the morning or after 4 PM. That’s when there are fewer people, less sun, and a more relaxed atmosphere.
- Don’t forget hats, sunscreen, and water. The sun can be strong, even if it’s not too hot.
- Ask for life vests for smaller children – they’re usually available, but it’s always good to check when renting.
- After the boat ride, grab a pizza or some ice cream right at the beach – Porat pizzeria makes great food, and parents can enjoy a coffee or drink too.
A Small Bonus
Some families like to follow up the boat ride with a short walk along the scenic coastal path that winds through the pine forest. It’s a gentle route where kids love collecting pebbles or playing “who can find the first seashell.”
